How do i stop being emo?

So, i've been what you call being the label (emo) for the last year. I really do enjoy looking the way i do, with my eye make-up, hair (which is not dyed black by the way), and of course the converse, or shoes with stars on them, and tight black or blue or dark blue jeans,, with the excessorized studdend belt, and of course my black hoodies with great bands like MCR and TBS, and Angels and Airwaves Yes i listen to alot of emo music, although i do like some r/b because i like to dacing sometimes too! So i am a completely your sterio tipical emo. The thing is i just graduated from high school and the real world is completely different. i want to some how slowly stop looking, acting, and thinking in emo all the time. The problem is that it has consumed my life. I'm emotionally torn. Plus i am dealing with others who think that emo is dumb. But at the same time i love who i am!!! What do I do??? anyone have any ideas as to how i can stop this obsession?

How do i stop being emo?
I do not believe that people have much chance to change their personality, but they can set reasonable goals and try to meet them.

Sit down and write down a list of all the things that you would like to accomplish in the next few years and then set aside some time to make it happen.

This may sound trite, but the happiest people seem to be the ones that are striving for a goal as opposed to the ones that have accomplished it.
Reply:I would start gradually working into your wardrobe more "classic" pieces of clothing-- for example, some nice pants from J. Crew, or Express. You can keep it funky with accessories if you feel like you MUST have something emo. I would also hang on to favorite pieces like your shoes, but maybe wear them with normal boot cut etc. jeans to even out your look. In general, I would just say be more conservative in how you approach your clothes, that way the focus will be on any funky things you choose to pair with them. As for music and such, there's nothing wrong with it, just maybe don't blast it (if you did?). Also, try to have a glass-half-full outlook, and I'm sure things will improve!
Reply:The second poster put it right, you are still young, you just graduated high school, and are still trying to find yourself, if not, style. I think everyone experiences that throughout their youth, experimenting with different looks, cliques, and music styles. I know when I was younger I would dress according to the music I listened to (hip hop, club chick, flamenco, etc.). Believe me, you will eventually grow out of it when your interests change...one's style and tastes ALWAYS evolve. You sound trendy in your clothes choices, you'll find out.
Reply:Wear Hollister
Reply:You are who you are and will be many different ways and be exposed to different things as you grow and mature. Don't worry so much about it.
Reply:wear a dress
Reply:Don't change yourself because of others.

TBS and MCR ****** rock to.....

Anyways, I guess I could be considered preppy, Abercrombie, Hollister-but that suites me, I would never change for anothers gratification, I don't think you should either....

What do you think of the new TBS MakeDamnSure video?

For me=love.
Reply:Easily put, if you have 1/2 a brain, in 3-5 years you will look back at your high school days and wonder why you didn't get an education instead of becoming the latest stereotype.

Better to start off on the right foot and begin growing up and taking responsibility for every aspect of your life, including how the way you dress is directly proportional to how you are treated by others.

Fair? That's debatable.

I quit working a 9-5 so that I can wear jeans and slippers, among other reasons, of course.

In the end, what you wear should be what makes you happy. You just have to carefully weigh your long term happiness. Will dressing the way you do get you that great job, or the family you wanted, or the life you imagined?

If not, then it's time to have a yard sale.
Reply:Just wear what you like. It doesnt matter.
Reply:you are a pathetic poser and just putting this question for attention. No one cares about your sorry pathetic life and how you dress.
