How do i get people to stop labeling me?

i absolutely hate it when people call me emo.

yeah i guess im not "normal" (and what exactly is normal? no one is the same...)

my hair is like a short pixy cut that has purple in it which stands out a bitand i wear skinny jeans sometimes (i only have 2 pair) with teeshirts and i had converse that i love but theyr falling apart so i dont wear them anymore but my laces on my shoes are bright neon green

but just becaues i stand out a bit from my friends doesnt mean i want to be labeled or steriotyped. seriously i dont want to be called "emo" or "punk" or w/e even if i am. im just me and i dont fit into any one steriotype. clothes dont make the person. why cant anyone see that?

btw i dont dress like that to fit in with my friends. infact i stand out quite a bit among them

How do i get people to stop labeling me?
OMG!

I'm having the same problem. see I wear my hair in my face but automatically that makes me "emo" or I wear black eyeliner and that I guess makes me "emo" its stupid cuz other people wear eyeliner too. but w.e!

I hate it, but the thing I do is I'm like "thank you" when they call me it. so they get mad and after a while they just walk away and leave me alone. I would say if you know who you are then dont worry bout other people. school is almost over anyway :)
Reply:You know what? If Jesus loves you, NO one else matters.

By what I have read from you, you seem confident enough to do and be who ever you want to be and do what ever you want to do, you might be going through a style faze, I like that style I think its cool, the Jonas Brothers dress like that, your just going with the trend. Anyway, as long as you know the difference between good and bad, then you are alright and on the right path and don't let anyone try to bring you down because, remember, HE Loves you!
Reply:every one wants to be different, u probaly do. so stop whinning about the attention you get and enjoy it. they probaly dont know what it really means to be emo and deep down they wish they could sometimes dress like you :)
Reply:Ignore them, as you described you are a very pretty girl, just be yourself, then if they dont stop, lay down the rules!!
Reply:You should be proud of being different. Who wants to be like the rest. People are just too scared to show their true self. don't worry people are always going to talk crap anyway.
Reply:if you choose to stand out then you will be labelled you cant change how people are just as much as they cant expect to change you
Reply:don't let it bother you everyone gets labeled i know ppl think of me as wierd but i don't care.
Reply:stop being so easily labeled then...be unique
Reply:You know wat's annoying? Being called a lesbo from ur ex-bf. I have nothing against them, but it's just annoying to be called that constantly just because he has no other insult.
Reply:everyone gets labeled or judged...its life
Reply:You cannot control what comes out of other peoples mouths..U B U and that's it..like your name says Jesus Loves You and to me, myself that IS ALL THAT COUNTS, my friend..HOLLA
Reply:y wud u dress like that if u dot want 2 get labeled.
Reply:Don't like it? Make it clear. Stand your ground, and be proud of the way you are. People think you're weird? Tell them that you're proud to be who you are, and walk like you own the place. People are very odd, and like to tease, point out, or make fun of people who stand out. Subconciously, they don't mean it. They feel weird with the fact you're so different. After a few days, the names should start to die down, with the fact they know they aren't capable of changing you to be 'normal.' Thing is, people just don't like different, and are afraid of change. It's good you're taking that step no one else wants to.
Reply:You know what? EVERYONE gets labelled!

EVERYONE! Its part of being HUMAN.

I"m in my 30's, people still label others! Its just how we as humans relate to each other! That's it. Its not bad or good--its just an "is".

If you don't want to be seen as an "emo" than chose different clothing.

If you like the clothing you wear and don't want to change it, than move on %26amp; stop worrying what the people say.

Life goes on and right now is a good lesson to realize that people dress in clothes and other people judge them for it.

When you are older, and go for a professional job interview--you'll have to wear a business suit--if you don't, you probably won't be hired--because you aren't showing a professional image.

If you are a nurse %26amp; don't wear scrubs in an operation; they will ask you to go change %26amp; people will judge you for not wearing that.

If you are wearing cheap looking clothing--people assume you are poor--High Quality Designer Pieces--people assume you have money.

Someone with makeup is seen as more professional than someone without makeup wearning the same suit.

You can look at women %26amp; tell the difference with the style of their hair; clothes %26amp; makeup to tell if they are a hooker; a professional office worker OR a doctor.

You're going to need to get passed it--if you are in your teens (no offense either) this will pass--the feelings last for only a few years %26amp; then it passes.
Reply:But you are not different. Lots of people wear those types of clothes. You are not standing out when you are with them, only when you are among the ones that dress different then you do.

And I bet you and your friends put labels on them right? So don't worry about it . People will talk. I learned years ago not to worry about what people think They don't pay my bills or put food on my table.

Be true to yourself and ignore those that are rude and inconsiderate of your feelings. If you looked like them they would still find something to label you with. That's just how some people are.

Have fun.. Life is short. Diversity is the spice of life. Don't you think !!!!!
